Can You Create a SUPER Affiliate?

Affiliate managers often categorize affiliates in three tiers. These are Super Affiliates, moderate producers and the 'once in a while' folks.

How can you help the moderate affiliate step up to the next level, perhaps even become a Super Affiliate? By communicating, providing support and knowing who is for real, you often can.

Let's say YOUR moderate producer wants to be a Super Affiliate, but they need help getting there. Here's what they often need.

COMMUNICATE

Choose a group to start with, and communicate with them individually. Email them and ask how you can help. Their answers may lead you to simple, yet powerful, ways of helping them. While you are communicating, measure their intent. Are they giving you lip service, or do they really want to grow?

PROVIDE SOLUTIONS

Produce a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) file, and made sure each new affiliate gets it. After that, review the questions that YOU hear the most and email the most common solutions to all of your affiliates once a week. Soon, the questions become less and the SALES become more.

KNOW WHEN TO CUT YOUR LOSSES

Some people want their hand hold to feel important. Others sincerely want to go to the next level. Know the difference. There are 24 hours in a day and YOUR time is money. If you have measured their intent, provided support and they are still not moving, set a date certain for YOU to back away. No big pronouncements, no warnings, just do it and move on. Soon, you will find the right one and go all the way.

You CAN help moderate affiliates to the next level. When you do, you both win. Take some time today to think about your affiliates, choose a few to start with, and take the initiative. You'll be glad you did.
